We offer private and group lessons, from the basics of equipment and casting to advanced entomology. With our on-site ponds and highly experienced professional guides, you'll leave an experienced angler, even if you arrive a newbie. Reservations and valid Colorado fishing license required.

One Hour Lesson: Learn about fly-fishing equipment and the basics of fly-casting. If you have fly fished before, this class may be used to hone your skills or to learn advanced casting techniques.
Two Hour Lesson: Designed for the beginner, this class takes you on a thorough venture into the world of fly-fishing. Demonstration and practice of useful knots, stream entomology, basic casting technique, explanation of equipment, and fly pattern matching are all covered in these two hours. If time permits, you will be able to fish with your instructor.
Devil's Thumb Ranch provides guests with unparalleled guide services. Our year-round staff has accumulated more than fifty years of local fly fishing and guiding experience. Drawing on their extensive knowledge of local waters, we can offer a quality fly fishing experience to anglers of all levels.
Wade trips are full or half day excursions on a choice selection of river sections. You'll experience pocket water, fast riffles and long deep runs, with an expert guide helping all the way.
Devil's Thumb Ranch also has exclusive access to a one-mile stretch of private water on the Colorado River outside Granby. Book this well in advance and you may get a chance to fish these prolific waters for an unforgettable day.

Ask about full day or overnight float fishing trips on the Colorado River, just west of Kremmling. Meals and camping equipment are provided for this memorable outing. Our drift boat is equipped with front and back leg holds for secure standing and accurate casting. You'll cover four to six miles of river canyon, mild rapids, abundant wildlife viewing opportunities, and excellent fishing.

Colorado River at the Miller Ranch, Granby, CO
Full Day: $50 Half Day: $25 Capacity: 4 anglers
One mile of pristine mountain river, loaded with German Browns. Difficult wading, unparalleled scenery, dry and nymph fly fishing, strong and healthy browns and rainbows with the occasional brook and cutthroat trout. Fish average 12” in length and range from 6” to 22”. The river averages 35 feet across and 2 to 3 feet deep.
Fraser River between Tabernash and Fraser, CO
Adult Full Day $50 Capacity: 2 anglers
An inviting mountain meadow stream that averages 20 feet across and holds some surprisingly large browns and rainbows. Easy back casts and slow riffles make this stream an enjoyable half-day adventure. This half-mile of the Fraser sees some prolific hatches of Red Quills, Drakes, and Caddis flies.

Four good miles of creek and two ponds make this more than you can cover in a day. Ranch Creek is known for its undercut banks that can extend 3-4 feet and hold 18-20” browns just waiting for that hopper or irresistible to drop onto the water. This section also has many beaver ponds with trout eager to hit the dry fly.

Over 1 mile of beautiful meandering stream. All types of water from pockets to undercut banks and riffles to deep runs, this creek offers each angler everything they ever wanted in a small trout stream. Browns, brookies, and rainbows are abundant with the occasional cutthroat trout. Put away those nymphs and wet flies and get out your two or three weight because big browns are lurking around every corner.

A 48-hour (2 days) notice of cancellation is required in order to receive a full refund on your trip. If the reservation is cancelled within 48 hours before your trip, you will be charged 100% of full price. Devil's Thumb Ranch reserves the right to cancel a trip due to unsafe conditions. In which case, full refunds will be granted. Your credit card is to hold your reservation only. You will not be charged until the day of your scheduled activity unless you violate the cancellation policy. Please let us know how you would like to make your payment when you arrive for your trip.
