Devil's Thumb did not disappoint. The complimentary yoga followed by cross country skiing were the activities I needed to rejuvenate...followed by the pool, hot tub, and sauna, it doesn't get any better. The rooms were impeccably cleaned and beautifully designed. Concierge was a text away making my first time stay extra comfy and super easy to navigate. I decided to indulge in a spa service before heading home and it was the right choice. Sharon, my esthetician, was lovely and the amenities in the locker room were top notch. I can't thank you enough for sending me home rested and restored, a priceless feeling as a mom. I can't wait to come back! read less

There’s nothing better than having an amazing fresh dinner after a long day of activities, a dip in the hot tub, and retiring by the cozy in-room fireplace. The ski trails are amazing -- perfectly groomed, great layout and lots of variety. The views were picture perfect. The skate ski rentals were a bit of a disappointment. They have limited sizes for skate boots (did not have any boots in my size at all - I arrived by 9:30am - so I used Combi boots) and the skate skis were not waxed for the conditions, so it was hard to get good glides. I suspect though with all the staffing challenges these days, that it's likely impossible to keep all the skis properly waxed. The staff was very professional and friendly though and were working hard to help everyone in a timely way on a busy day. Fat bike rental was super easy and a lot of fun. I also had lunch in the lodge and hot chocolate from the cafe and both were superb. Service was slower than you would expect in normal times, but everyone seemed to be hustling - just too many people/tables for the number of staff on duty. Highly recommend a day visit or longer, but would recommend bringing your own gear if you plan to nordic skate. read less

This place and have been going there for about 20 years. I’ve stayed in both hotel areas and prefer the main hotel for convenience to the restaurant but the back one up the hill is quieter unless there is a wedding. Both are comfortable and have the great hot showers and baths fed from the hot springs. The staff are helpful, the cross-country skiing the best in CO (even though we don’t want more people going there). The restaurant is good for breakfast (IMHO) but all of the area suffers from poor quality restaurant food. We also often go day skiing and that works as well. read less

The staff and facilities are all best of class as are the outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, fat tire biking, snow shoeing and horseback riding. We stayed in a two-bedroom cabin, and it was very cozy and nice with a fireplace and small kitchenette for coffee, etc. The scenery and views all around were incredible, so beautiful. I personally highly recommend this facility for a vacation or special occasion trip! read less

There were a few times that poor service left a blotch on the day, but that was overshadowed by the events, outdoors, accommodations, and staff friendliness.WiFi at our cabin was a bit spotty, but we were still able to work during the week. It was difficult to stream movies at night though.Woke up to hear elk bugling in the mornings which was a real treat! read less

The dining was great, however there were very few options(which is understandable considering the conditions of COVID). The spa was incredibly relaxing and was certainly my favorite part. The staff is truly outstanding, from Michael who brought in our luggage to those at the front desk, the housekeepers, and restaurant staff, especially Nicole, Bailey, Dylan, Chef Brandon, Assistant Manager Joe, and Austin, the Food and Beverage manager. Erika, the bartender in Heck's Tavern, created the most delicious hot drink I've ever tasted--the Golden Goddess. The food and wine selections at Heck's are excellent, and the ambience is warm and inviting with a spectacular fireplace. Autumn in the Hallowed Grounds coffee shop is a good barista. Our suite was gorgeous, with attention to every amenity, from fine linens and spa robes to elegantly rustic furnishings and beautiful views of the mountains and meadows. And the deep tub with a view of the meadow, oh my! We were there when the lodge was beautifully decorated for Christmas, so festive. Our stay was one astounding experience after another--outdoor heated pool and hot tub, state-of-the-art fitness center, spa treatments, and s'mores around the fire-pit. We drove all the way from Iowa.Everyone was wonderful. The zip line girls were so much fun, sweet and funny. They absolutely LOVE what they do and it shows a million times over. Their personalities compliment eachother fantastically. Ugh! I hate that I can't remember their names. That is absolutely my own fault.We stayed in one of the cabins, which was very nice. The scenery was beautiful.Hecks had pretty good food, but our first server was slow and not very attentive. We had to ask to order drinks and it took quite some time for him to come back to take our food order. The second time we were at Hecks the waitress was GREAT! Super attentive, soft spoken and sweet.The Ranch House WAS TERRIBLY slow, especially for not being busy. The waitress spent ALOT of time at ONE table, while it took us over 30 minutes to get our soup, at which time she took our order. Never got a refill on our drinks etc.. We ended up leaving before the meals came out-switched the following days reservation to Hecks.Now... On to the star of the show.. STACY!! She is absolutely PERFECT!! She loves her job, the horses and guests. We eloped so it was just my, now, wife and I along with our wonderful photographer.. (if you need a photographer Check out Nina Larson-she actually recommended DTR.) Back to Stacy, she took us out on horseback to a spot she thought would be great for our vows and pictures. SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT.I have been on a horse a couple times as a child but I was scared to do it again as an adult. She gave me lazy Ole Uncle Jesse and she couldn't have picked a better match lol. I didn't have to worry about him taking off a million miles an hour while I was on him (irrational fear).Two days before we hit the trail she gave me a private lesson. She had total control of him and made me feel safe. Anyway.. I could go on and on about Stacy but I think everyone gets the idea. Thank you so much Stacy for making our elopement everything we hoped for.I apologize if there are typos or grammatical errors, I don't have enough time to proof read this..DTR gets an A++. read less
