Looking for the perfect activity for that upcoming family reunion or to kick off a special weekend with your wedding party? How about something out of the ordinary for team-building that’s challenging and fun? Private groups of all sizes and experience levels can customize a friendly competition by choosing from a variety of unique mountain activities and ropes courses, all set in the great outdoors. PLAN AN EVENT/RETREAT

Summer Pioneer Challenge

Build your own custom team competition by selecting 2 to 6+ activities below. Each event will last approximately 25 minutes with 5-minute intervals to transition between activities. Our Pioneer Challenge offers a great opportunity to strengthen morale and bond between group members with a series of initiatives designed with problem-solving in mind. Most events require teams to work together to accomplish the initiatives.The cost is $25 per person/activity plus 20% gratuity.

Archery

The team will spend 15 minutes learning about and practicing archery, then spend the next 10 minutes shooting at a target.

Biathlon

The team will spend the first part of the time learning about and practicing biathlon shooting. Next, they will be timed on a biathlon course and for each shot missed, there will be penalty loops. This timed portion will be done relay-style. (Optional: Shooting-only Biathlon in which the team will shoot without penalty loops.)

Hatchet Throwing

A pioneer favorite! For 15 minutes, teams will see how many times they can throw their hatchets into the target.

Lassoing

The team will spend 10 minutes learning about and practicing lassoing, then spend 15 minutes trying to lasso a plastic bull as many times as possible from a designated line.

River Crossing

Each team member is issued a 1×1 square of plywood. Utilizing communication and teamwork they must cross a section of terrain without leaving the platforms. Any time a platform is touching the ground without touching a person it is removed from play.

Caterpillar Walk

The Task: Move the group from point A to point B with the use of two long wooden planks and ropes for hand holds. The group must make it to point B safely without any body parts touching the ground.

The Objective: To determine the natural group leadership and develop an effective group process.

Peak to Peak

The Task: The goal is for the entire group to cross from one end of the course to the other without touching the ground. The course consists of blocks of wood approximately a square foot in size that are about 5 feet apart. The team is given a long length of wood to aid in the challenge.

The Objective: To develop problem solving skills, promote the importance of each team member, as well as individual differences.

Spider Web

The Task: Move the whole group from one side of the spider’s web to the other without touching the web.

The Objective: To review the group’s ability to deal with potential success and creativity.

Mine Field

The Task: The team will work together to solve the diagram of the mine field. The whole group must get though the pattern as fast as they can. If someone steps on a wrong place, they must go to the back of the team line.

The Objective: To develop an effective group process and communication.

Traffic jam

The Task: The group must get their entire team, through the challenge without running into each other. They will form a “V” with the place holders on the right and left side and move to the opposite side with stepping forward onto a non-occupied place holder.

The Objective: Active listening and dependability.

Train Conductor

Person in front of the train is blindfolded, the person at the rear is the only one allowed to talk, the conductor must direct the train to a goal in the least amount of time possible.

Winter Pioneer Challenge

Build your own custom team competition by selecting up to 6 activities below. Each event will last approximately 25 minutes with 5-minute intervals to transition between activities.
The cost is $25 per person/activity plus 20% gratuity.

Cross-Country Skiing

The team will complete as many relay-style laps as possible, while on skis.

Snowshoeing

The team will complete as many relay-style laps as possible, while on snowshoes.

Sledding

The team will spend the first half of the time trying to make as many laps on a sled as possible. They will spend the second half of the time trying to sled, as far as possible and can make as many attempts as they would like during this time period. Their farthest point will be marked.

Biathlon

Fat Tire Biking

The team will complete as many relay-style loops possible on a designated fat tire biking course.
