Born in raised in Fraser, CO, Sofia has spent nearly 15 years mushing sled dogs. Over the years, she rescued and aquired a motley crew of Siberian huskies in which she trained and competivly raced. In spring of 2020, she graduated with her Bachelor’s in Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology from Colorado State University all the while still running her dogs. She spent winter breaks traveling and working in other sled dogs kennels or volunteering in rescues. Her deep dedication to her team and love of working with all things canine, led Sofia to pursue a career in training dogs. She graduated with distinction from CATCH Canine Trainers University in 2023 and shortly after opened Very Amazing Dog Academy LLC. Sofia’s mission is to help strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners through training, and the sport of mushing. In honor of her beloved sled dog team, she seeks to promote humane mushing practices and bring in next evolution of the sport. When she is not working with the dogs she spends her past time raising her own human pup, birding, rocking out to hard rock and metal or has her nose in a book. Sofia is excited to teach other people the sport that forever transformed her life.
