There’s a Danish term, hygge (“hooga”), that perfectly encapsulates the feeling of contentment that can be found in a single moment. Moments that turn into the kind of memories you look back on when you need the feeling of a warm hug, or a quick laugh. That’s what this moment is. A hygge moment.
Often, hygge is associated with the coziness of a warm sweater, blanket, tea, meal, or anything else that helps to soothe your soul. It can be found in the presence of your close friends and family, or by yourself. The important thing to remember about hygge is that it’s all about how you feel. It’s the creation of memories, big and small, that are deeply connected with us. You can find hygge at home or out in the big world. Sometimes though, when we take specific steps to go somewhere other than our homes, we find that peace associated with hygge a little easier.
